Description of Services:
Catholic Community Services is unique in that it has accessibility
to all the professional services for clients provided through the
Central Office, i.e., Pregnancy Counseling, Adoption, Therapeutic
Foster Care, Family/Individual Counseling, Foster Grandparent, Handicapped
Services, Refugee Programs. The Leavenworth office offers case management
for clients in Catholic Community Services transitional homes and
the VA transition house. The service provides a critical component
for clients referred from the Alliance Against Family Violence,
the Salvation Army, the Northeast Kansas Mental Health Center, VA,
Good Shepherd in Tonganoxie as well as referrals from churches,
and schools. Clients are not screened for religious preference.
Services are available to anyone in need. Some of the specific services
provided by the agency include: assisting clients with rent and
utility payments based on need; offering emergency shelter for the
homeless; providing school supply packets to children who are in
need of assistance; assisting with job placement and providing Holiday
meals. This agency is the only resource available in Leavenworth
County that can facilitate turning water on for those who are unable
to pay due to special circumstances.
The agency's goals are:
- To meet the increasing needs of low-income and no-income
persons in the light of decreased funding for social service
programs.
- To network with local, state and federal organizations to
prevent duplication of services and best utilize available funding
in State Block Grants.
- To educate clients as to the resources available, including
current changes in their state and federal benefits.
- To inform the local community--businesses and churches of
the increased needs of the poor due to federal restrictions.
The geographical service area includes all of Leavenworth County.
Public Appeal for Needs:
