There are many different opportunities available for museum volunteers.
Docents: Give one afternoon a month or be on-call to serve as a museum docent. Give guided tours, work in the gift shop and welcome visitors to the museum.
Living Museum: During the school year, a living history program showing a Victorian family preparing for the wedding of their daughter is presented to area 4th grade students. Volunteers take on roles playing various family members. Each year over 1,000 children take part in this fun and exciting program.
Research/Cataloging: Volunteers are responsible for preparing records on new museum acquisitions and do research to answer some of the many requests for information the society receives each year.
Miscellaneous: Other opportunities involve maintaining the museum's garden and grounds, cleaning and repair of museum items, giving guided city tours to out of town visitors, special events like booths at local activities and many other interesting projects.
