The Leavenworth County Historical Society, founded in 1954, works to discover, preserve, and share the heritage of the area. It encourages pride in Leavenworth pioneers who conquered the West and built a united nation. The educational programs of the society present this historic community to a national and international population.

Currently the Society runs the Carroll House Museum, a wonderful example of late Victorian design, with 16 rooms available for public view.

In addition the Society presents programs to community school children and groups and hosts annual events like the Christmas Homes Tour, Herb Market and Children's Christmas Party.
